Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Numerical and Mathematical Optimisation at the University of Queensland

Prof. Fred Roosta at the University of Queensland is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a project at the intersection of mathematical optimisation, numerical linear algebra, and machine learning/artificial intelligence. This project focuses on the development of novel theoretical frameworks alongside cutting-edge computational techniques for large-scale optimisation problems, with direct relevance to modern machine learning and AI applications. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Lindon Roberts (University of Melbourne).

The position is fixed-term for up to 2 years.

Position at Academic Level B or C

We are recruiting for one new continuing position in the Dynamics, Modelling and Computation group in the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at The University of Adelaide as part of an exciting investment in the future of mathematics. Fully funded PhD position in numerical optimisation (University of Sydney)

Applications are now open for 1 fully-funded PhD position (3 years) in numerical optimisation, working with Dr Lindon Roberts at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sydney. This project is to work on the development, analysis and implementation of algorithms for derivative-free optimisation problems. There are no nationality restrictions on the position. Students with a strong honours (first class or upper second class) or a master’s degree in mathematics or a related field are encouraged to apply.

This scholarship is funded by the Australian Research Council project “Robust Derivative-Free Algorithms for Complex Optimisation Problems”.
